Winemakers on the Mountain

Star vintners from Austria’s most renowned wine-growing regions join us in both summer and winter for a very special “summit meeting” at the Trattlerhof in Bad Kleinkirchheim. With our “Winzer am Berg” event series, selected top wineries from Austria and the Alpe-Adria region take center stage during culinary weekends of indulgence.

These weekends comprise an exquisite programme of events to delight everyone – not just wine-lovers! These include a wine tasting accompanied by wine-related stories from the winemaker and paired dishes.

You can look forward to a tasting menu of wine-matched Carinthian delicacies and delicious morsels from the inn’s kitchen, which has been awarded 83 Falstaff points.

The Trattlerhof staff are the careful custodians of a tradition dating back centuries. In 1642, the Jesuits granted the landlord at the inn the right to serve food and drink – an early tavern licence! Back then, the innkeepers would serve up rustic wine to the drivers of the pack trains who came over the Alpine passes. The Trattlerhof archives also contain an 18th-century bill for the delivery of a 150-litre barrel of wine.
